Insurance Verification Specialist

Location: On-site San Antonio, TX

Job Summary:

The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information, and providing support to the billing department. This role is crucial in ensuring that patients receive the appropriate benefits and that claims are processed efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits for new and existing patients.
  • Contact insurance companies to confirm patient eligibility, coverage levels, and policy terms.
  • Accurately enter and update insurance information in the patient management system.
  • Maintain detailed records of insurance verifications and communications.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with insurance companies, and internal staff.
  • Provide patients with information about their insurance coverage and any out-of-pocket costs.
  • Resolve discrepancies and issues related to insurance verification.
  • Work closely with the billing department to ensure timely and accurate claims processing.
  • Assist with appeals and follow-ups on denied claims.
  • Stay up to date with changes in insurance policies, regulations, and industry trends.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in insurance verification, medical billing, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance policies, procedures, and terminology.
  • Proficient in using patient management systems and other relevant software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.

Work Environment:

  • On-Site/In-office setting with standard office hours.
  • Occasional opportunity to work overtime or on weekends during peak periods.
